Sources and method
Every fact on a country page comes from a public source named on that page, with the retrieval date.
Where the data comes from
- Party status, type, dates and entry into force: the status table of Convention No. 12 on the website of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (hcch.net), retrieved on 5 November 2026. Dates are shown as HCCH prints them, with the same date written out.
- Competent authorities, addresses and websites: the Art. 6 competent authority page of each country on hcch.net, retrieved on 5 November 2026. The date HCCH gives for the last update of each page is shown on the country page.
- Regions: the UN M49 standard country or area codes list of the United Nations Statistics Division.
What we leave out
A field the source does not give is left out. The first screen quotes the authorities as HCCH names them; where HCCH lists many, the first screen shows a short extract and says "among others". The country page links to the full HCCH page.
Objections to an accession are mentioned only where the HCCH status table marks them, with a link to the HCCH notification. We add no assessment of our own. This site is not legal advice.
